T.I. On His Sentence: ‘I Think I Made Out All Right’

T.I. Pictures, Images and Photos

‘Road to Redemption: The Reckoning’ aired on MTV Tuesday.

When T.I.will turn himself in to begin his one-year-and-one-day sentence and where he’ll serve it are up in the air at the moment. But what Tip will be doing until then is certain.

“I’d like to spend time with my family,” the rapper told MTV News’ Sway during “T.I.’s Road to Redemption: The Reckoning,” which aired on MTV Tuesday (March 31).

“I work so much, so I’d just like the time to kick it with them,” he added. “The kids, the old lady, my cousins, my brother, just with my family. Maybe take a vacation, maybe something for Mother’s Day. I don’t know, man. I might be able to make one more birthday party.”

Prior to his sentencing, T.I. kept busy promoting his latest LP, Paper Trail, and making a number of community-service appearances as part of his plea deal. In lieu of a longer jail sentence, Tip’s lawyers worked out a deal where the rapper had to complete 1,500 hours of community service, in addition to paying a $100,000 fine and completing 365 days of home confinement. So far, T.I.’s completed 1,030 hours of his service and will be required to finish the rest after his term in prison.

In previous interviews, T.I. has said he doesn’t want his children to visit him in jail; he also said his friends and artists on his Grand Hustle label don’t have to visit him either. He said he’ll quietly strategize his comeback while incarcerated.

But there’s still the matter of helping his family deal with his absence. He’s the sole provider for his brood and he asked the judge to place him in a federal confinement near Atlanta, if possible, during his sentencing. According to Tip, his family is trying cope with his impending prison bid.

“Well, you know we still got more work to do,” he explained. “At the end of the day I’m not going to be gone long enough to have any long-lasting effects. Of course, the initial emotion will be one of somber grief. But by the time they get over it, I’ll be getting home. Compared to how bad it could have been, I think I made out alright.”

Keyshia Cole’s mother is still alive, despite the negative assertions of internet rumors that have reported her sudden demise.

The gossip of mother Frankie Lons’ death has prompted a statement from Cole’s management company, Imani Entertainment.

“Imani Entertainment has received a huge amount of inquiries in regard to the rumor about Keyshia Cole’s biological mom, Frankie Lons, having recently passed in an automobile accident,” the company said in a statement. “The rumor has absolutely no truth to it – Frankie has not been in any accident of any kind and is doing well at home in Atlanta.” (more…)

Lisa Ann Appearing In New Eminem Video

March 31, 2009

<br />

LOS ANGELES – Adult star Lisa Ann isn’t close to being done with her time in the spotlight. The busty performer, feature dancer and talent agent shot a music video earlier this week with multi-platinum rapper Eminem.

Though he’s been out of the limelight in recent years, Eminem has been diligently planning his comeback album, “Relapse,” set for release on May 15.

Lisa Ann appears in the video for the album’s first single, “We Made You.”

“It was phenomenal,” Lisa Ann said of the music video shoot. “I can’t say too much, but I will say that the song is awesome and everyone is going to love it.”

Lisa Ann told XBIZ that she couldn’t divulge details about the shoot, but “I can just say this: the song is awesome, and so is [Eminem]. I can’t wait to see the finished product.” (more…)

Jim Jones Headed To Court Same Day His CD Drops

March 23, 2009

Jim Jones has a big day ahead of him tomorrow (March 24). Along with the release of his new album, Pray IV Reign and the re-launching of his play, he is scheduled to head to court over his assault case with Ne-Yo’s manager, Jayvon Smith.

The Dipset Capo will be in Manhattan Criminal Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday for a short appearance. “I expect the judge to set a new motion schedule based on the D.A.’s failure to respond to my discovery request,” Jones’ attorney Scott E. Leemon told XXLMag.com.

In addition to pressing criminal charges against Jones, Smith also filed a $7 million lawsuit against the Harlem rapper, claiming their fight caused him “substantial pain.” Leemon believes the criminal case is “a set up for the civil suit.”

Jones allegedly got involved in an altercation with Smith – who is the brother to rival Jay-Z’s right hand man Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith – at the Louis Vuitton store in the Big Apple last December. He plead not guilty on February 4th.

In related news, directly following the court appearance Jones will be making a stop at the Union Square location of the Virgin Megastore in NYC to meet with fans and sign copies of his new album. He will also be kicking off his week long stint of his play Hip-Hop Monologes: Inside the Life and Mind of Jim Jones later that night at the 37 Arts Theatre. – Elan Mancini

XXL Presents Eye Candy Mellissa Ford

Fierce, Sexy, Fly And Intelligent! Have To Give Credit To Ms. Ford You Go Girl With Your Fine Self..Check Out Her Interview With XXL Magazine.

When it comes to body language, hip-hop’s “Jessica Rabbit” speaks volumes. Her pictures allow words to go on vacation by the thousands. So imagine when your favorite video dime decides to speak her mind.

Words: Kris Ex
Images: Charlie Langella

Just because it would be cliché to say that Melyssa Ford is prettier in person than she is in pictures, wouldn’t make it any less true. After all, she’s known for her beauty. Her career spawned with a succession of hit music videos such as Jadakiss’ “Knock Yourself Out” and Usher’s “Yeah,” which years later led to her co-hosting the negro channel’s BET Style, making her rise to the cusp of mainstream fame a pretty de rigueur path for a pretty face and body sicker than your average.

But there’s more to Melyssa than what meets the eyes and makes them pop out. She affirms this with conversation amid a couple glasses of wine at a small table in New York City. Over a few soaring hours, she waxes about subjects big, small and in between. From pets (“Animals give you a love without verbal communication that you’ll never ever be able to receive from a human being”) to speed-reading horror novels as a child (“What 8-year-old do you know that reads It by Stephen King?”) to the idea of sex vs. sexy (“I try to keep things in the realm of the modern-day Marilyn Monroe, like the true pinup women that were appreciated for their beauty, their bodies and their personas”) to adolescent dreams of being Clarice Starling (“I was 10 years old, and I snuck into The Silence of the Lambs and was like, “That’s it! I want to work for the behavioral-science unit and study high-profile sex offenders and serial killers”). She shares all this—and much more—with gracefully excited hand movements. Which is good, because it allows one to catch glimpses of her cleavage during conversation without looking like a perv.

What’s it like working for BET? I figure you have to keep it simple, can’t seem too inquisitive and say the same things over and over.
You know what’s hilarious? My mouth gets me into a lot of trouble, because I’m a straight shooter. I don’t know how to be anything other than completely honest and blunt. Sometimes people are really taken aback by how loquacious I can be; how much I feel the need to voice my opinion.

But strong opinions and BET aren’t always synonymous…

When it comes to BET, I will forever be grateful for the opportunity. It has done so many things in terms of elevating me to another level, changing people’s perceptions about me. But, more and more, I’m becoming conscious about my responsibility to the community and how loud my voice actually is. We just don’t offer enough in terms of responsible programming, informative programming to build the African-American community as a whole.

If given the opportunity, what would you do with your airtime?

I offered to house a production crew in Houston for free when all the [Hurricane Katrina] evacuees from the Superdome had been sent to the Astrodome in Houston. I offered to pay for myself to go down and offer a comprehensive look at how the evacuees felt about the lack of urgency from the Bush Administration. I wanted to show it from the perspective of the younger generation, so that people would really understand the severity of the situation, like, Yo, their quality of life is gone. Imagine you’re without your Timbs, you’re without your fuckin’ snorkel jacket, you’re without all the stuff that you apply to your identity and who your are. Because when we’re in our teens, really, materialistic possessions define who we are more often than not. Imagine that gone. You might not even know where your sister or your mom is. Your whole life, your whole culture has been turned upside down. It was never explained that way to get the younger generation to be sympathetic to what was really going on.

So what did BET say to this grand idea?

They turned me down. I was devastated because it was gonna do more than just inform the viewing public. It was gonna offer another perspective, which is what I’m all about—building, evolving, keeping people interested, but at the same time, informing.
